By June 14, Atalanta must decide what to do with Emil Holm. Paid 2.5 million last summer, the Swede is on loan with the right to buy, so another 8.5 million euros are needed to keep him in Bergamo.
The feeling is that the DEA managers are thinking deeply about the future, for Holm a scenario could also open up linked to some technical counterparts (Spezia, in Serie B, would have interesting elements to focus on), but everything is in flux . In the background, even if we are talking about the left-handed wing, for a couple of days a sensational hypothesis has been hypothesized: the return to Bergamo of Robin Gosens.
The German winger will not participate in the European Championships, but compared to when he left Bergamo to join Inter he is a player in full maturity. Born in 1994, he will turn 30 next July and has just returned from a season with Union Berlin which was not exciting for the team (salvation almost at the last gasp and experience in the Champions League which was anything but stellar) but which showcased on a personal level: 37 appearances and 7 goals in all competitions, in a team mechanism that was almost all defense and long balls.
Gosens wants to return to Italy, Sartori’s Bologna is on his trail, but it is certain that if the possibility of returning to Bergamo really opened up, the German would take it into consideration as a primary option. The price tag should be between 8 and 10 million euros, Union Berlin will not oppose his departure and on a footballing level it is clear that Atalanta for Gosens, and Gosens for Atalanta, would be a cross (almost) Perfect.
The boy knows the environment very well, the family feels comfortable here and Gasperini he would have a reinforcement ready immediately, who knows the game and the Atalanta dynamics and who he would alternate with Ruggeri. Of course, the situation Bakker (paid 10 million last summer) needs to be resolved, but the scenario is decidedly fascinating.
