Aversa (Caserta) – The training of the first 30 local operators and company birth centers and the accredited private individual of the maternal and child network of the Caserta Local Health Authority concluded yesterday for the dissemination of good practices for the support, promotion and protection of breastfeeding.
The initiative, promoted and implemented by the company working group “PL 11 The first thousand days of life – Prp (2020-2025)”, saw the enthusiastic participation of the operators involved in the three days of theoretical and practical-experiential training under the guide of important and authoritative trainers on the subject, Professor Riccardo Davanzo, Irccs pediatrician-neonatologist, Burlo Garofolo, president of the interdisciplinary technical operational table for the promotion of breastfeeding established at the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Enrica Causin, nurse pediatric Ibclc, teacher of the Unicef Breastfeeding courses and with Problem Based Learning (Pbl) methodology, teacher of the Biological Nurturing courses.
The course aimed to increase not only the knowledge and skills of operators in the light of updated scientific evidence, but also the communicative attitude of operators in conveying scientifically based information to pregnant women and new mothers, placing emphasis on institutional duty of the professional figures who gravitate in this phase of life to support women and families in a conscious health choice to avoid falling back into blaming attitudes and to set up the conditions necessary to create empowerment in the population.
The practical experiential sessions also saw the involvement of users, future parents participating in the birth support courses and dyads of mothers and newborns in hospital, who received during the two information moments useful ideas for consciously managing the feeding of the little ones . A drop, that of staff training, which could be lost in a sea if not linked to a whole series of actions that we intend to carry out but, just like every drop of breast milk, precious for activating virtuous practices, nourishing awareness, relationships and networking.
A precious opportunity for operators to re-know each other, each in the specificity of their own expertise, like elastic bands, each with their own color, capable of binding themselves, making space, welcoming and containing, retying threads to widen the network. Thanks to the company management, to the working group of the Free Program 11 “The first 1000 days of life” which designed and implemented the initiative, to the UOC Training and the UOC of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics and Neonatology of the ‘Moscati’ of Aversa who hosted the event, to the sensitivity of the operational units and local and hospital services which encouraged the participation of the staff and the students who got involved.
