TERNI There are municipalities under 15 thousand inhabitants with a single candidate in which it is enough to exceed two quorums to be elected mayor: the first is 40 percent of voters, the other is 50 percent plus one of valid votes. In the province of Perugia there are two cases: Fossato di Vico where the candidate is Lorenzo Polidori who at 7pm yesterday had already achieved a turnout of 56.7 percent, while the other is Costacciaro with the candidate Andrea Capponi already with the 59.6 percent. However, the majority of cases are recorded in the Terni area. In Arrone, the mayor Fabio Di Gioia won the challenge against turnout yesterday at midday, when the percentage of voters had already reached over 40 percent. At 7pm he exceeded 65. A figure that continued to grow throughout the day, despite the electoral campaign of the candidate excluded by the TAR due to an error in submitting signatures, Tomas Nardini, who tried to convince the people of Arrone to annul the ballot. Now we wait for the polls to open. Only in this way will the solo challenge of the outgoing mayor Di Gioia (centre-left) not turn into a debacle for Arrone, given the specter of being placed under a commissioner if the threshold of valid votes is not overcome. Even Ficulle (54.33) and Monteleone d’Orvieto (64.27), with Gianluigi Maravalle and Paolo Garofani, have to wait for the ballots to be counted while Alessandro Dimiziani from Lugnano in Teverina, is already dusting off the tricolor band because in the municipality there is an agreement with the centre-left.

VALNERINA

High turnout also in Montefranco where the challenge between the outgoing mayor Rachele Taccalozzi (centre-left) and Antonello Sinibaldi (centre-right) has become lively in the last few days. “Intense” to put it in the words of the first citizen who had still not voted yesterday late afternoon. «It’s now tradition: I vote in the evening. It’s been like this every time I’ve won. Partly out of good luck and partly out of tradition I will go and vote later. The atmosphere is serene, even if we will have to make more than one clarification regarding what happened in one of the two polling stations. I don’t want to add anything else but what happened is not good”, says mayor Taccalozzi who is hunting for the hat trick. You are also trying for a third mandate for the mayor of Polino, Remigio Venanzi (centre-right), who has to contend with the candidates of the centre-left, Gabriele Matteucci, and of Alternativa Popolare, Saverio Matteucci. «The turnout is very high. At 5pm, 74 people out of 177 eligible voters had voted. The climate is serene. Personally, I voted on Saturday.”

CURIOSITY’

Antonio Tacconi, an entrepreneur from Sangamino, honored his descent into politics – as an independent candidate for the League at the European elections – by behaving like an old-fashioned politician: he visited the polling stations of Terni one by one, greeting all the scrutineers. In the afternoon, the polling station in Via Mazzini recorded a small record: half of the registered voters had already voted, also thanks to the fact that it is a polling station that has no architectural barriers, so many disabled people were diverted to vote there. And always at the polling station in via Mazzini, the sports councilor of the municipality of Terni Marco Schenardi and the mayoral candidate for the centre-right in Guardea Alfredo De Sio voted. Neither of them, however, was able to vote for themselves because Schenardi is a candidate for the European elections for the North East constituency while De Sio, in fact, for the municipality of Guardea.
