It was an important week, physiologically speaking, as regards the choice of the new coach at Hellas, where concrete planning began for the next Serie A championship, the sixth in a row for the Verona club which will once again try to win his within a football increasingly in the hands of wealthy North American presidents and investment funds. In the meantime it will in all likelihood Paolo Zanetti to collect the legacy of Marco Baroni.
A new course by Zanetti
Zanetti’s profile appears to be able to perfectly match the needs of Verona, a coach accustomed to wearing a helmet to go into the trenches and fight strenuously for survival. What could raise some doubts is the CV of the Venetian, who managed to complete the goal of salvation only in one of the last three seasons while collecting two dismissals with Empoli in the recently concluded championship and Venezia two seasons earlier. On the other hand, however, evaluating a coach based exclusively on his past can often prove to be a fallacious and ungenerous exercise.
The market to come
Once the new technical guide has been made official, it will then be time to think about the market to come. The line to follow for Hellas will, barring any surprises, still be that of the last five years: sacrificing some precious object on the altar of capital gains, and in this sense the sirens have already gone off for the various Noslin, Suslov and Coppola, at in order to build a treasure to then re-invest in less mainstream markets to find new young talents capable of exploding quickly.
