Close to the imminent final elections – the civic movement of Lamezia Terme “Patto Sociale” through Fernando Nucifero – compact head – school – issues a heartfelt invitation to the school managers and class councils involved to carefully evaluate the uncertainty of the contours applications of regional law n° 46 of 25 October 2023 regarding the abolition of art. 1 of the obligation on students of all levels to produce a medical certificate for the purpose of returning to school following a prolonged illness.
Discipline which – he continues – involved issues relating to the justification for health reasons of the absence of students within the scope of the exceptions to the minimum attendance limit envisaged for the validity of the school year. Many schools, in fact, have, preventively and diligently, requested parents whose children have been absent due to illness to file a health certificate justifying the period concerned in order to deduct the days of non-attendance from lessons from maximum amount of hours allowed.
A separation which – the exponent points out – is fundamental to avoid possibly exceeding the defined absence thresholds beyond which the student cannot be scrutinized.
Not all doctors, however – informs the lawyer Nucifero – as reported to us by various Calabrian families – were available to issue the necessary certification by referring to the aforementioned regional law, thus generating the impossibility of producing it. Hence – he concludes – our heartfelt hope in the certainty that exceptional solutions will possibly be implemented.
