He allegedly stabbed the 50-year-old ex-husband of his current partner in front of the 45-year-old woman, then cleaned the house to leave no traces and went to a long-planned medical visit. The facts. Around 10.30, a citizen residing in the Nesima neighborhood called 112 asking for a police patrol to be urgently sent because, shortly before, in a house near via Sebastiano Catania, following a quarrel between two people, one of these she had been hit with several stab wounds to the neck. The intervention of the Carabinieri was immediate and, assisted by the operational unit of the Fontanarossa company and the Nesima station, they reached the reported house. They found a terrified woman crying in front of the door and an ambulance driving away.
In fact, the 45-year-old woman, ex-wife of the stabbed man, was still in a state of shock, but managed to tell the investigators that shortly before, for reasons of jealousy, a furious argument had started between her current partner, a 41-year-old man from Acireale, and her ex-husband, a fifty-year-old from Catania. The clash between the two then degenerated when the man from Acea, blinded by anger, grabbed a kitchen knife and started hitting him several times.
The injured man was immediately helped by the 118 medical staff and was taken to the emergency room of the San Marco hospital, but his life was not in danger. Investigations began immediately by the Carabinieri staff who, thanks to the invaluable collaboration of the staff of the scientific investigation section of the Catania investigative unit, reconstructed the dynamics of the event.
The military personnel, amazed by the fact that there wasn’t even a single blood stain in the house, discovered that the attacker, after the scuffle, proceeded to remove the stains from the floor of the house. At the crime scene, in fact, the investigators managed to highlight the traces of blood, also ascertaining that the assailant had injured his hand during the struggle. The search for the man began immediately, initially at the home of his parents in Acireale where, however, he could not be found and, shortly after, the Carabinieri ascertained that the 41-year-old man, despite what had happened shortly before, he had gone for medical tests that had already been booked for some time.
So the military, after having identified the medical office where he would have gone, surrounded the building to prevent any possible escape, and set up a remote observation service. The man was spotted inside the waiting room. Immediately reached, with the necessary caution, he was taken out of the medical center, to avoid involving other patients, and was therefore blocked and made safe.
The Carabinieri carried out searches at the home and the car used by the man from Ace, where they found some elements that confirmed the dynamics reconstructed by the Carabinieri investigators. The man was arrested and made available to the judicial authority who validated the measure by ordering that he be taken to the prison in Piazza Lanza.
