The agreement aims to share and analyze information capable of preventing and countering attacks or damage to the organisation’s IT infrastructures.

Yesterday morning in the Town Hall of Caltanissetta the memorandum of understanding for the prevention and combating of cybercrimes to protect information systems was signed between the State Police and the Cyber ​​Security Operations Center – Sicily Postal and Communications Police Occidental, and the Municipality of Caltanissetta.

The agreement aims to share and analyze information capable of preventing and countering attacks or damage to the IT infrastructure of the Municipality of Caltanissetta.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Director of the Cyber ​​Security Operations Center – Postal and Communications Police of Western Sicily of Palermo, Dr. Carmine Mosca and the Director of the Technological Innovation and IT Security Service of the Municipality of Caltanissetta, dr. Diego Peruga, aims to create a synergy between the two Administrations that will allow mutual and timely reporting in order to deal with emergency situations that arise from threats, vulnerabilities or incidents capable of damaging the regularity of telecommunications and generating an interruption of public services utility or the subtraction of sensitive data.

“The protection of critical computerized infrastructures that provide essential services, such as those provided in the particular context by the Municipality of Caltanissetta – explains Dr. Carmine Mosca – is one of the specifics assets of the Postal Police, which operates at a central level with the CNAIPIC – National Anti-Cyber ​​Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures and at a territorial level with the Operational Units for Cyber ​​Security. The signing of the Protocol aims to strengthen the prevention network against cyber attacks on critical infrastructures by offering a more effective and targeted response to counteract any form of illicit access with the aim of interrupting public utility services or unduly stealing sensitive information”.

“The cooperation between the Cyber ​​Security Operations Center of the Postal and Communications Police and the Municipality of Caltanissetta – highlights Dr. Diego Peruga – aims at the prevention and repression of cybercrimes, inspired by the principle of participatory security, with the aim of synergistically and efficiently ensuring the resources of the country system for the benefit of the entire community, contributing to the containment of operational costs deriving from interruptions of services provided through IT and telecommunications systems. This operational model of collaboration allows the prevention and fight against cyber crimes which have as their object, in their complexity, the “critical” IT systems and services of this body, to the benefit of operators and users”.
