Emergency medical transport for a three-year-old girl from Brindisi Airport to Rome, carried out with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Air Force, stationed in Ciampino. The operations concluded at dawn today 27 June, shortly after 6am.

According to the Air Force, the little patient, in imminent danger of life, needed to be urgently transferred from the “Dario Camberlingo” Hospital in Francavilla Fontana (Brindisi) to the “Bambino Gesù” Hospital in Rome. The little girl traveled accompanied by a medical team and her father.

The little girl had a serious congenital liver disease diagnosed at birth in Francavilla 3 years ago. And she had complications linked to that disease: after yesterday’s hospitalization, she was transferred for an operation which is not carried out in Puglia.

Emergency medical transport is one of the institutional activities that the Air Force carries out at the service of the community. The flight, defined in this case as “IPV – Imminent Danger of Life”, was activated at the request of the Prefecture of Brindisi to the Summit Situation Room of the Air Force Command. This immediately affected the 31st Wing of Ciampino, one of the departments that carries out the operational readiness service for this type of missions. Once they arrived at the destination airport, where an ambulance was already waiting for the little girl, the Falcon 50 was once again available for immediate use in case of need.
