Giulio Locatelli explains: “Just as intertwined threads make up a fabric, human relationships intertwine to form the fabric of society. Each node represents a meeting, a shared experience, a bond between individuals. ‘Textile Circus’ is thus a tangible symbol of the strength and beauty of collaboration”.

Through 20 site specific interventions which include widespread exhibitions, installations, performances, workshops and artist books, Una Boccata d’Arte will run a special throughout the summer cultural itinerary which winds along the peninsula: an invitation to travel and discovery of unexpected places, far from the traditional circuits of contemporary art.

Una Boccata d’Arte is a project created in 2020 by Marina Nissim, President of the Elpis Foundation, with the aim of enhancing the historical and landscape heritage of small towns, through the sharing of practices and languages of contemporary art. Spread throughout Italy, the project involves 20 villages with less than 5 thousand inhabitants each year, located in different areas to rediscover theentire regional territory. By virtue of their intimate size, these places become the ideal context for artistic experimentation and the creation of new imagery.

THE WORK EXHIBITED IN SASSO DI CASTALDA – Some rumors say that Sasso di Castalda was built by women, men and children, carrying on their heads the stones recovered from the valley, perhaps in the ditch of the Arenazzo river. Today the country opens up to slow walking tourism and the experience of Tibetan bridges, in the dream of reaching the mountains “by flight”.

What is the perception of the village for a community of dreamers?

The artist Giulio Locatelli invites the community to Textile circus, a textile laboratory that develops in a series of meetings over the course of Una Boccata d’Arte 2024. It is precisely the tuft, the weaving technique that becomes new writing to “embroider” the views of the country, which emerged in the dialogue between the artist and the participants. Weaving, an introspective language, becomes the shared experience of the desires, images and stories of the inhabitants, but also of the travelers who want to take part in the workshops, since “you love nothing without imagining”, without finding new ways of creating community .
