The States General of Reading and Books was promoted in L’Aquila by the Ministry of Culture. Cepal. Pierfranco Bruni writer, president of the Italian Capital of Books 2024 Commission closed the two days in the Abruzzo capital (28 – 29 June 2024) by talking about the next issue of the event which will be dedicated to Taurianova, Italian Capital of Books 2024. “Despite being Calabrian, I didn’t know the reality of Taurianova, a flagship in the difficult territory of the Gioia Tauro plain. The Renda library was a precious discovery. Cultural work in the Taurianova area is a social as well as cultural challenge.”
Pierfranco Bruni was born in Calabria and lives between Rome and Puglia. Writer, poet, Italianist and literary critic, former director of archaeology at the Ministry of Culture. An expert in Mediterranean literature, he experiences literature as a model of religious anthropology. He has published several texts on Christianity in literature. His analytical style allows him to provide always new visions on literary, philosophical and metaphysical themes. He has dedicated himself to the connection between literature and fable, literature and the shamanic world, languages and alchemy. He has published over 120 books, including poetry, essays and narratives. He is president of the “Francesco Grisi” Study and Research Center. He holds institutional positions related to the promotion of culture and literature. This year, by decree of the Ministry of Culture Mic, he was appointed President of the Commission for the awarding of the title of “Italian Book Capital 2024”.
