Leonardo Grottaglie, it’s a strike! – Taranto Courier

After the latest negative news on the present and future of the Leonardo site in Grottaglie, unions and workers have decided to take action, proclaiming for next June 13th a strike with garrison/concentration in front of the main entrance of the Leonardo Aerostructures of Grottaglie/Monteiasi (which will be spread over three shifts). Furthermore, starting today a state of unrest is proclaimed in order to block extraordinary and any form of flexibility. Workers from the Grottaglie site on loan to the other sites of the Division will also be involved in the planned mobilization.

The decision came following the paid meetings of the workers of the Grottaglie plant, “during which the conditions of uncertainty and criticality of the site were highlighted and which, inevitably, must be addressed and managed together with all Leonardo employees , LLS, LGS and the associated companies Axist, Technoplants, Ivra, SVIB – say the unions -. Furthermore, during the meetings the situation was taken stock following the trade union meeting with Leonardo SPA on 05/31, considered completely unsatisfactory, above all due to a corporate attitude that shows no discontinuity with respect to the real need to start a diversification process, excluding the usual slogans and announcements, as well as for a behavior that is not at all inclusive and participatory with respect to choices that have a significant impact on employees”.

As reiterated by the trade unions a week ago, “the managerial decision to suspend production activities for several months, effectively using the plant as an accounting management tool, regardless of the possible consequences especially for the workers in the related industries, is wrong in the absence of a more comprehensive discussion that protects all workers from the consequences of disastrous managerial choices. The Grottaglie plant belongs to workers who have shown an attachment not comparable to the vast majority of managers who have taken turns in the division over time and who have led the site to this situation due to a total absence of vision, ability and foresight. For this reason, workers united and fighting to protect their future” conclude the unions.
