The anthological exhibition on Vettor Pisani opens at the CIAC in Foligno

The Centro Italiano Arte Contemporanea (CIAC) in Foligno inaugurates on Saturday 8 June, at 11.30 am, an anthological exhibition dedicated to Vettor Pisani, one of the most influential artists on the contemporary international scene between the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The exhibition, entitled “Vettor Pisani. Journey to the edge of the mind”, will be open to the public from 9 June to 22 September 2024, under the curatorship of Italo Tomassoni.

Promoted and supported by the Cassa di Risparmio di Foligno Foundation, the exhibition is organized in collaboration with Maggioli Cultura e Turismo. It collects over 50 significant works by Pisani, carefully selected from the works of the 1970s and his subsequent creations, until his death. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to view rare photographic material documenting the artist’s unique performances, performances that cannot be replicated in any other way. During the exhibition, Vettor Pisani’s voice, recorded on six magnetic tapes, will accompany visitors in the background.

Curated by Italo Tomassoni, who shared a long and fruitful relationship with Pisani, hosting him repeatedly in Foligno, the exhibition makes use of works from various prestigious collections. Among these, the Morra Foundation in Naples, the Vettor Pisani Museum in Caggiano and the Pieroni-Stiefelmeier collection in Rome, as well as the Jacorossi collections in Rome, the Cardelli and Fontana collections in Sarzana and the Paneghini collections in Busto Arsizio.

In addition to the works on display, the exhibition will be enriched by a large collection of catalogues, photographs, documents and video materials, offering a complete and in-depth vision of Vettor Pisani’s artistic universe.

The CIAC of Foligno is therefore preparing to welcome this important retrospective, inviting art enthusiasts and scholars to explore the creative path of an artist who was able to interpret and profoundly influence contemporary art.
