Work has started on 19 new sports facilities in the Crotone districts

Today, in the Council Room of the Municipality of Crotone, the numbers and details relating to the sports facilities interventions that will affect various neighborhoods of the city were presented. The planned interventions will involve a total of 19 playing fields for multiple sports disciplines. These facilities include five 5-a-side football pitches, a 7-a-side football pitch, an 11-a-side football pitch, four tennis courts, three basketball courts, a volleyball court, a handball court, a structure for athletics (including javelin, shot put, discus and vortex throws) and two bowling greens.

Mayor Voce, the councilor for Sports Facilities Luca Bossi, the councilor for Urban Planning Giovanni Greco and the sector manager Clara Caroli illustrated the program. Also present were municipal officials Manlio Caiazza and Mariano Di Pino.

“There are no Serie A and Serie B neighborhoods just as there are no Serie A or Serie B sports. We believe it is appropriate that every neighborhood can have spaces where sports can be played, spaces dedicated to children, young people and all those who want to dedicate themselves to various sports disciplines. This program is part of the broader activity implemented with the PNRR and which affects the whole city. We have already implemented interventions worth over 33,400,000 euros,” declared Mayor Voce.

Councilor Greco underlined that the planned interventions are in line with the urban planning tools being worked on. Councilor Bossi illustrated the interventions in detail, highlighting the common direction of social inclusion, recovery of abandoned areas, regeneration of neighborhoods and suburbs and the creation of services for the community.

All the systems will be equipped with photovoltaic systems, solar thermal systems, video surveillance systems, defibrillators, greenery planting and energy efficiency of lighting.
