Yesterday morning Claudio Morra left Rimini heading towards Savigliano. A few days to say goodbye to friends and relatives and then he will leave for the holidays. First, however, the attacker has time to think back to a season that will remain in his memory.

The numbers speak for themselves: 35 league appearances, 2,619 minutes played, 19 goals and 3 assists. Without forgetting the three Italian Cups with lots of goals and 177 minutes in the play-offs.

«It was a strange season, which started badly, which we did well to put back on track by reaching the play-offs and ended with great regret in Perugia. At the beginning, we paid dearly for the fact that the team had many new elements, some of which arrived during construction and therefore without adequate preparation. In the first eight games there was also bad luck and we found ourselves down there in last place. But we never lost faith, we worked hard and with the arrival of Troise, the inclusion of some new players and with the growth in physical form, we managed to string together a series of positive results that raised our morale. We moved up the rankings but when we had to take the last step, for one reason or another, we never managed to do it. When, however, things seemed to be taking a turn for the worse, performances and victories arrived, leading to the conquest of the play-offs.”

But going out with Perugia was very annoying. «We dominated the match, in Perugia we saw one of the best seasonal versions of Rimini. Unfortunately we missed the goal and we went out undeservedly. I believe that something needs to be changed in the rules: at least extra time should be played and possibly, if the tie persists after that too, the better ranked team should advance. Because it’s so hard. Having said that, I think it was a more than positive season.”

For the team, but above all for him who achieved his career scoring record, 19, with two of these that he treasures in a particular way. «On a personal level I am very happy and I have to thank my teammates who allowed me to do this, because without them I wouldn’t have scored so much».

Are goals more important? «I put in the first, the one scored against Juventus Next Generation because he unlocked me and the tenth, the one with Torres, because he gave me the first goal of the season, the one of double figures».

Goals and performances that put him in the sights of many big names in Serie C and beyond. But the attacker is tied to Rimini for another two years on his contract, complete with a release clause. «I feel good in Rimini and at Rimini – Morra cuts it short – and I have already said it several times. Now I’m leaving for holidays and if something were to happen, my agent will take care of it.”
