The investigating judge of the Court of Ragusa validated the arrests, and issued a precautionary custody order in prison, against three alleged members of the “Stidda” of Vittoria accused of mafia association: they are Biagio Cannizzo, 51 years old; Raffaele Giunta, 62 years old and Alessandro Pardo, 48 years old.

The first two are also accused of the attempted murder, on April 25, of the former justice collaborator Roberto Di Martino after his return to Vittoria. The arrests were carried out by the police and were issued by the magistrates of the Catania DDA, the deputy prosecutor Sebastiano Ardita and the deputy prosecutor Gabriele Fragalà.

It was hypothesized that the criminal group had the objective of physically eliminating a list of people who collaborated with justice in Vittoria (including Roberto Di Martino himself) for revenge and to consolidate exclusive control of all affairs crimes in Vittoria and the entire province of Ragusa. It also emerged that the organization had access to numerous weapons, including war weapons, and was attempting to gain control of the city’s economic activities through extortion from entrepreneurs and traders. One of those arrested was found in possession of a 357 Magnum revolver with abraded serial number and loaded with the relevant ammunition. The three were translated and locked up in the Catania-Bicocca prison.
