Tunisian citizen, reported for drug dealing and resistance to PU, was wearing a non-functioning wristwatch whose case could hide small things; another citizen reported for receiving stolen goods stopped on board a stolen motorcycle and immediately returned to the owner

On the evening of Wednesday 5 June last, in order to respond to the request for security from citizens in the Piazza della Repubblica area and surrounding areas, the Livorno Police Headquarters organized targeted territorial control services with the help of two self-assembled crews of the Tuscany Crime Prevention Department of Florence.

On this occasion, a Tunisian citizen born in 1997, homeless and irregular on the national territory, was released into custody for dealing narcotics and resisting a public official. The foreigner, during a check at a commercial establishment in Piazza della Repubblica, initially hid inside the bathroom and then attempted to escape by quickly running outside the bar. The operators managed to block him despite his opposition resistance and from the subsequent personal check, two heat-sealed pellets of cocaine-type narcotic substance and money divided into small banknotes were found. He was also found in possession of a non-functioning wristwatch which had been dug inside, creating a hiding place for small objects.

Furthermore, again during the aforementioned checks of the territory, a person on board a scooter motorcycle was stopped by the staff of the Flying Section of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office who, from subsequent investigations, was reported to have been stolen on 6 May 2019. The driver , who was found to be a Tunisian citizen born in 1994, homeless in Italy, irregular on the national territory and with numerous police and criminal records, was taken to the Police Headquarters offices where he was handed over in a state of freedom for the crime of receiving stolen goods. The scooter was returned to the owner. It should be noted that the criminal proceedings are not yet defined and, therefore, the disputes will have to be further verified in any trial. Only a final conviction will be able to make the suspects guilty.
