PONTE LAMBRO – The thrill of touching real sheep’s wool first hand and gluing it onto a sheet where the cute animal is reproduced in a drawing. But also the audacity of putting your hands in the earth and learning how to pot a basil plant: in short, the beauty of “feeling like farmers” for a morning, but also aware consumers, learning the secrets of the seasonality of ingredients, agricultural products and foods . This is what the young students of the primary school of Ponte Lambro (Como) did on Wednesday morning.that for they invited Coldiretti Como Lecco for their end of year party, who accepted the proposal and created several educational workshops in the school courtyard. The director of the interprovincial Coldiretti Rodolfo Mazzucotelli he underlined “the value of agriculture in the area, including the Como triangle which, thanks to initiatives like today’s, confirms an attraction that crosses teaching and the attention of the younger generations”.
In fact, the day in Ponte Lambro was an appendix to the program of workshops included in the Agriculture in the Classroom – Education for the Friendly Countryside project, whose official conclusion was during AgriNatura 2024, with an entire morning of celebration dedicated to schools. A project that will in any case be proposed again next year, with renewed commitment and further areas of study. “This year too we carried out an important project with commitment and enthusiasm, which involved the schools of the two provinces with educational and fun activities on the subject of healthy food and agriculture. Our aim is to make the new generations more aware of the reality that surrounds them, of the beauty and variety of the agricultural world, of the excellence created in the area and of the great work behind each of them. And also to convey to young people the goodness of our foods, which have the scent of tradition but are produced in an increasingly innovative, smart and sustainable way” adds the president of Coldiretti Como Lecco Fortunato Trezzi.
The civic and environmental education project activated in the schools for the recently concluded school year refers to the Memorandum of Understanding of July 2019 “For the promotion of skills related to sustainability in nutrition, for the development of the circular economy, green economy and precision and digital agriculture” signed by the MIUR and the national Coldiretti.
