LECCE – Storie, a theater and music festival curated by Ura Teatro, continues on Saturday 8 June in the courtyard of Tagliatelle – Stazione Ninfeo in Lecce. At 8.45pm (entry 8 euros) on the “Morning Prayer” stage, a show by Valentina Diana with Silvia Lodi directed by Giuseppe Semeraro. «Every morning, in Jewish tradition, we thank the Lord, king of the world, for many important things. One of these thanks has a different formula if it is said by a man or a woman. The man thanks the Lord for not having made him born a woman, the woman sketches, in the prayer she says: thank you for having made me born “according to your will””, explains Valentina Diana. «The woman in the Old Testament often doesn’t even have a name and she often suffers wrongs or violence that are reported without dwelling on it too much, as incidental or inevitable facts. As if the message, the higher meaning, required some small sacrifice, some small service wrong, in the name of something bigger and more important, which cannot have eyes and attention for everyone. I thought it was nice then, to give voice to those half-hidden women, to those characters a little apart, to shed light on their fate, at least a little. The Bible, this time, will help us reflect on marginal realities and half-erased lives, barely intuitable, as too often happens in reality.” Saturday 22 June (8.45pm – admission 8 euros) on stage “Fasting in front of the sea”, a successful and award-winning show by Principio Attivo Teatro dedicated to Danilo Dolci with Giuseppe Semeraro, written by Francesco Niccolini and directed by Fabrizio Saccomanno, dedicated to the figure of Danilo Dolci, winner of the Museo Cervi – Teatro per la memoria Award in 2020 and of the Critics’ Award at the Ermo Colle Festival in 2022. Tagliatelle – Stazione Ninfeo is the project selected with the joint call by Fondazione CON IL SUD and the Municipality of Lecce for the management and enhancement of Masseria Tagliatelle and Ninfeo delle Fate in Lecce. Promoted by Terra del Fuego Mediterranea, the regeneration of places passes through the activities and work of the partners Aforisma, Aiccon, RamDom, National Book Festival, Io non mollo, Genteco, Seyf, Improvvisart, Locomotive, IISS “Presta Columella”, Pazlab , Earth and Ura Teatro.

The summer opening hours for guided tours of the Rudiae archaeological park in Lecce are starting
From 8 June to 1 September, every Saturday and Sunday with a single shift at 6.30pm (entrance 8/6 euros), the guided tours continue in the Rudiae archaeological park in Lecce. That of the first Messapian city (VII century BC) and then Roman (III century BC), known above all for being the birthplace of the father of Latin literature Quinto Ennius (239-169 BC), is one of the most important archaeological sites in Salento , now usable thanks to the public-private partnership for the promotion and valorisation stipulated between the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce and ARVa srl - spin off of the University of Salento, also on the basis of a prior agreement between the Superintendency and the Municipality of Lecce. The archaeological excavations, started in the second half of the nineteenth century thanks to Duke Sigismondo Castromediano under the direction of Luigi De Simone, have brought to light areas of necropolis, underground tombs dug into the rock, portions of the Messapic fortifications, as well as sections of paved roads , places of worship and public buildings from the Roman era. At the center of the settlement is the Roman Amphitheatre, built during the reign of Emperor Trajan (98-117 AD) and recently brought to light. In fact, Lecce can boast two Roman amphitheaters just a few kilometers away: that of Lupiae in Piazza Sant’Oronzo, in the heart of the city, and that of ancient Rudiae, in the countryside on the outskirts of the Salento capital on the road to San Pietro in Lama . During the visits, the figure of Otacilia Secundilla will also be remembered, a young Roman woman who lived two thousand years ago who, with her philanthropic work, donated her savings for the construction of the Amphitheatre. The program of special events that will characterize the entire summer period will also be revealed in the coming weeks.
