Mare, Aliberti (Marnavi): accelerate technological update

Rome, 6 June. (askanews) – Francesco Aliberti, professor at the University of Naples Federico II and consultant to Marnavi, spoke on the occasion of the launch of the 14th edition of the Mediterranean to row campaign of which Marnavi is a partner.

“All projects that lead to solving marine pollution problems (microplastics, urban and industrial wastewater, solid waste, etc.) must be carried out with coordination and a timing free from emergency or fashionable moments. After a brief examination of the recovery of waste water to be used for agriculture, industry or even human consumption, thanks to refinement technologies, we moved on to examining the desalination problem: the health damage linked to desalinated water was highlighted and environmental ones linked to brine, hyperhaline wastewater from the process, which impacts the coastal marine environment where it is generally disposed of together with the plant’s washing and maintenance water containing various highly toxic products. Today, a new technological approach is available that eliminates these types of impacts: a ship equipped with a high-capacity watermaker on board. Desalination takes place offshore and only the brine is disposed of in the sea by diluting it thanks to the motion of the propellers; the very toxic washing and maintenance waters are stored in dedicated tanks and disposed of in treatment plants; finally, the water produced is reconditioned under a rigorous control provided for by the water safety plan. Especially for the smaller islands, this system, with low or no impact on biology, especially on the bottom, can validly replace various land-based systems with an undoubted advantage in terms of environmental, landscape and economic impact&rdqu https://askanews.it/wp- content/uploads/2024/06/Mare-Aliberti-Marnavi-accelerare-editore-tecnologico.jpg 606_video_15293137|vd01 vd00|https://askanews.it/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Mare-Aliberti-Marnavi- accelerate-update-tecnologico.jpg|06/06/2024 15:37:15|Mare, Aliberti (Marnavi): accelerate technological update|Video|News, Videoinfo]
