Camorra drug trafficking, 11 arrests

The Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Castello di Cisterna Group have completed a significant anti-drug operation, executing a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the GIP of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA). The operation led to the arrest of 11 people, all seriously suspected of association for the purpose of drug trafficking.

The Context of the Investigations
However, the suspects belong to two distinct criminal groups active in Acerra, a town located on the outskirts of Naples. The investigations, conducted with meticulous precision between June 2022 and April 2023, revealed the existence of a well-structured and organized drug trafficking network. The illicit activities were in fact conducted on two fronts: the supply of wholesalers from various cities in the province of Naples and the retail sale in local drug dealing squares or directly at home.

Long Breath Operation
This recent operation represents the third wave of arrests in Acerra starting from 17 July last year. Overall, 40 people belonging to four distinct criminal groups were arrested, demonstrating the pervasiveness of drug trafficking in the Neapolitan hinterland city. The police have demonstrated a constant commitment to combating this phenomenon, deploying resources and strategies to dismantle criminal networks and restore security in the local community.

Impact on the Community and the Territory
Operations like this have a significant impact on the community, as they aim not only to punish perpetrators, but also to dissuade other people from participating in illegal activities. The presence of a well-established drug dealing system represents a threat to public safety and the quality of life of citizens. With these actions, the Carabinieri are therefore sending a clear message: crime will not be tolerated and the police are ready to intervene decisively to protect the community.
