“I did not intend to question the Resistance or the 2030 Agenda, but only to invite my fifth grade students to have a critical sense and analyze the facts without prejudice to understand reality. A message and a wish on the last day of school for their future.” This is how the Literature teacher defends herself, who on Tuesday distributed photocopies with “revisionist and conspiracy” content to a class at the Aldo Moro high school in Reggio Emilia. The story exploded with fanfare a few hours before the final bell. Principal Daniele Cenini is carrying out the necessary investigations to ascertain what happened, and “firmly condemns the unacceptable content of the flyers”. The director of the provincial school office Paolo Bernardi speaks of “aberrant content”, but awaits Cenini’s report “with full confidence” in order to evaluate any type of disciplinary measure. Maximum caution, therefore, also to avoid disturbing the serenity of the children who are preparing to face the final exam.
The teacher, who has served 36 years in high schools in the province of Reggio Emilia and is close to retirement, defends herself by speaking of the need to teach young people to “think with their own heads”. On the merits, he states: “I have never questioned the Resistance; every year I explain the meaning of April 25th and June 2nd; I accompany classes to Auschwitz and Terezin. The flyer is provocative but I never said that there were no partisans or relays They were not portrayed for a gender issue; after the Liberation, it was realized that it was necessary to talk about the role of women and ambiguous shots like the one in the flyer were taken. My students know me, they understood the context well and they didn’t blinked. Ditto for the photocopies on the 2030 Agenda: who can fail to say they are in favor of peace or the fight against world hunger?
The photocopy relating to the Liberation shows the image of three women of the Resistance and the writing: “Do we have any Partisans? No, it doesn’t seem so, so what do we do?
