A gang of thieves, at least two, have been terrorizing the Cagliari district of Is Mirrionis for some time, even reaching the borders of the La Vega district. There were at least three shots, confirmed and reported to the police. And, in all cases, the criminals managed to escape and disappear with decidedly huge loot. The unexpected “visits” occurred in broad daylight, and it is not a remote hypothesis that the thugs studied the habits of the tenants, therefore knowing when to strike in total solitude. The first complaint dates back to February. A couple in their seventies had had to move out of town for family reasons. On the 16th, a neighbor contacted the woman, asking her if they had returned home because she had noticed the hallway light on. Unfortunately, those who had left it on were criminals. The list of stolen objects, contained in a report filed by the owner of the apartment, on the second floor of a building which has a mechanical workshop underneath, is long: a brown Tissot watch, an automatic dog repellant pistol, two mobile phones and, then, a bracelet, a necklace and a gold choker, the same precious metal for a ring with diamonds and another with a sapphire, a white gold brooch with a brilliant, a gold chain with a cross and stones, a ring also in gold with various stones, another with a pink stone and diamonds and a pin engraved with the letter L. “They entered via the veranda, using a gas pipe as a support”, the man tells Casteddu Online . Four months later, the investigations have still not led to any results.
Two other residential burglaries occurred subsequently in nearby Via Campania. The first was last April 25th, between ten and twelve. One or, most likely, more thieves managed to enter the apartment of an elderly widow, stealing her pension that she had recently withdrawn and valuable items. In that case the victim had contacted the police. The last robbery dates back to last Thursday: “Around 4.30pm, with the help of a metal gas box, which allowed the thieves to pass from the stairwell to my daughter’s veranda”, he explains, with the clear request of remain anonymous, an over eighty year old resident a few hundred meters away: “My daughter was working elsewhere, remotely, when she became suspicious because the internet connection was deactivated. In a short time she returned home, but the thieves had already fled. They entered first through the stairs of the building, reaching the veranda thanks to one of the windows between the floors”. Acrobatic thieves, even in this case, in short. “Fortunately, the most valuable items were contained in a safe. They ran away with cash, a few hundred euros, a fairly expensive watch and other objects and jewels.” The police and carabinieri are involved in the cases, depending on the complaints. The forensic officers, also in action in the most recent case, checked the possible presence of fingerprints or traces useful in tracing the criminal or criminals. The robbed citizens await developments, hoping to be able to regain possession of the stolen goods and, at the same time, hoping that the gang of thieves will be brought to justice.
