Necklaces and bracelets at risk seized – Pescara

PESCARA. There are a total of 250 thousand items of costume jewellery, including earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings, considered unsafe, with a value of around 65 thousand euros, seized by the financiers of the provincial command of Pescara, as part of the action plan called “Stop fake”. The yellow flames, thanks to the activity carried out in the field of product safety and protection of Made in Italy, have identified and dismantled a counterfeit supply chain on the Tyrrhenian-Adriatic axis, thus interrupting the commercial flow between Lazio, Marche and Abruzzo. The articles would have been found to lack adequate packaging and the necessary information on the possible presence of toxic material and therefore harmful to health, such as nickel for example. Specifically, the operation started two weeks ago, when the supplier of the seized goods was traced from a retail shop in Pescara. It is a wholesaler of Chinese origins based in Civitanova Marche. From the analysis of the accounting documentation, the financiers managed to trace the importer, owner of a commercial business based in Rome. The latter was then reported for fraud on the market as it did not have the documentation relating to the laboratory tests to be carried out on the heavy metals present in the products sold, in the maximum percentages foreseen. «The Stop Fake action plan is part of the device to protect Made in Italy and consumer health», explains the colonel Antonio Caputo, provincial commander of the financial police. «The investigative diagnosis and the consequent follow up on the fake destined for the province led to intervention with inspections in the target sales points. From here it was possible to trace the supply chain.” (sdv)
