SThere are 51.7 million Italians called to vote on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June for election day (5.1 million live abroad).
We vote for the European elections, for the administrative elections in 3,700 municipalities and for the regional elections in Piedmont. THE seats they will be open from 3pm to 11pm on June 8th and 7am to 11pm the next day. The electoral silence starts at midnight on Friday 7th. New to this consultation: those outside the office will be able to vote from wherever they are, without returning to the municipality of residence. The application to do so had to be submitted by May 5th.
In the Province of Crotone
There are ten municipalities in which the people will be called to the polls, in three weeks, voting will take place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June to elect the mayors and renew the municipal councils.
The most important municipality is Strongoli where the vote is back due to the resignation of the former mayor, Sergio Bruno, who handed in his resignation on 3 August last year. Competing for the position of mayor will be Francesco Benincasa, with the Ora Strongoli list, and Luigi Costantino, supported by the Strongoli al Centro list.
There will also be two contenders in Mesoraca: the outgoing mayor Annibale Parise, with the Insieme si Can list, and the opposition councilor Carmen Carceo, with the Oltre con Noi list. The peculiarity of this electoral challenge is that the two contenders are the same ones who competed for the seat of mayor five years ago.
Man-woman clash also in Carfizzi where the current mayor Mario Antonio Amato (Together for Carfizzi) will have to defend himself from Giovanna Macrì (Common Project).
However, there are three contenders to Caccuri: Luigi Quintieri (Loyal for Caccuri), Giuseppe Di Gioia (We are Caccuri) will challenge the outgoing mayor Marianna Caligiuri (Continuity and Future).
Three other contenders for Castelsilano where the outgoing mayor, Francesco Durante (Liberi) is challenged by Pina Piperio (Embrace the Future – Together for Castelsilano) and Francesco Foglia with Voltiamo Pagina.

The tricolor band of Verzino is a three-way debate with the current mayor Giuseppe Antonio Cozza who is not running for re-election: Francesco Fabiano (La Nascita) will have to deal with Francesco Levato (Verzino Valori e Trasparenza) and Lino Cortese (Liberamente Verzino).
In San Mauro Marchesato the outgoing mayor Carmine Barbuto (Ritiamoci il Cuore) will face Levino Rajani (Liberamente). She is a two-way challenge, and a completely new one, given the non-candidacy of the outgoing mayor, Francesco Scarpelli, also in the second Arbresh municipality, San Nicola dell’Alto. The two contenders are Luigi Rizzuti (Together for San Nicola) and Francesco Poerio (Hora Jone).
A completely new challenge also in Umbriatico, where Pietro Greco (Continuity and Future) challenges Giuseppe Antonio Cozza (The turning point).
The last municipality called is Belvedere Spinello, where there is only one candidate for the mayor’s seat: Antonio Amato (Demos), who will only have to defeat the abstention. The law is clear: to be elected the mayoral candidate must exceed a quorum of 40%.
In reality, there were eleven municipalities called to vote, the eleventh was Melissa, which expired naturally. But when the candidatures were submitted, the Prefecture had to register a stalemate. In fact, there are no candidates for mayor, nor lists presented and this is due to the uncertainty created by the presence of the Prefectural Commission which took office last November 9th to evaluate possible mafia infiltration in the municipal administration. The activity of the anti-mafia access commission ended on Wednesday 8 May, but it will take at least three months to know the government’s decision on a possible administration of the body. In short, a sword of Damocles on a future council that the candidates promptly wanted to avoid by deserting the electoral competition.
