Agriculture Abruzzo, Imprudente: “6 million euro tender to transform companies and create agritourisms and farms”.
Incentivize agricultural companies to grow, diversifying their activities to encourage the creation of agritourisms, educational farms and structures dedicated to social agriculture. This, in summary, is the main objective of the SRD03 call called “Investments in agricultural companies for diversification into non-agricultural activities”, aimed at supporting the rebalancing of the rural territory and encouraging agricultural companies in the creation, development and modernization of sustainable agritourism structures .
The notice was published by Abruzzo regionat the instigation of the Department of Agriculture, as part of the Rural Development Complement (CSR), which replaced the programming implemented up to now by the Rural Development Program (PSR).
“Agritourism in Italy – declares the vice president of the Abruzzo Region with responsibility for Agriculture, Emanuele Imprudente – represents the most practiced diversification activity which involves 38% of agricultural companies, for a production value of 1.5 billion which, combined with educational farms, social agriculture, etc. constitutes more than a fifth of the value of primary sector production. Thanks to the funds made available by the tender – continues Imprudente – we therefore intend to offer Abruzzo businesses the opportunity to grow further, integrating agriculture with activities that are capable of multiplying employment and income opportunities. The hope – concludes the vice president – is that the intervention will significantly contribute to strengthening the economic sustainability of our companies, while at the same time encouraging the promotion of the excellence of the Abruzzo region.”
The financial allocation is 6 million euros; starting from 11.00 on 11 July 2024 until 24.00 on 26 July 2024, the functions of AGEA-SIAN, the national information system of the Agency for agricultural payments, will be active for the electronic compilation and transmission of support applications .
For the implementation of financeable interventions, support will be granted in the form of a capital contribution which cannot exceed 50% of the total costs foreseen by the project: from a minimum of 20 thousand euros to a maximum of 250 thousand euros for each application.
The beneficiaries of the call are agricultural entrepreneurs, individual or associated, who intend to start non-agricultural activities in rural areas, diversifying their traditional activities; entrepreneurs who exclusively carry out forestry and aquaculture activities are excluded.
While continuing to develop traditional activities, agricultural entrepreneurs will be able to present projects aimed at tourist reception and the trade of Abruzzo’s excellent food and wine products. It will be possible to range from the renovation to the expansion of rural buildings, from the qualification of open spaces of existing companies, to the purchase of equipment to be used for agritourism activities. It will be possible, for example, to transform a farmhouse into a bed & breakfast to host tourists, offering country life experiences or open a restaurant serving typical local dishes prepared with zero kilometer ingredients produced on the farm.
