REGGIO EMILIA – The soap opera coach of Reggiana reaches the final chapter. Alessandro Nesta reached the agreement with the Monza: one-year contract with option for the following season in case of salvation for the former Lazio and Milan player, who will therefore lead a Serie A team for the first time.
The coach, who had his contract automatically renewed with the Granata after they achieved salvation, therefore bids farewell to our city after just one season in which he achieved 47 points in 38 games. After asking the club for time to decide his future, the possibility of leading a top-flight team prevailed over that of staying in Reggio Emilia.
Nesta has surpassed the competition of Marco Baroni: the former Verona coach, who had met the Brianza CEO Adriano Galliani in recent days, he is destined for Lazio after the stormy farewell between the Biancoceleste club and Igor Tudor. Reggiana was prepared for the possible farewell and had already moved to look for a replacement: the club’s sights were set on young coaches who at the same time had already gained experience in Serie B. The 45-year-old Fabio Caserta he is, at the moment, the main candidate to sit on the Reggiana bench.
In the last few hours, a photo of the coach at Mediopadana has become popular on social media and a dialogue is underway between the parties. Caserta, in the cadet tournament, led Juve Stabia, Benevento and in the last season he coached Cosenza. The latter experience ended in March: the dismissal came with the team in 14th place, after having achieved 34 points in 29 games. There is no shortage of alternatives: among the profiles evaluated by the company that of Roberto Bredain the last season at Ternana, and Alberto Aquilania coach who has just left Pisa after a very good season.
