Healthcare in Lombardy, more than 1 billion euros

Good news regarding healthcare in Lombardy. The Region has recently approved two important allocations for the strengthening of the regional healthcare system. The first, worth 128.2 million euros, it will be mainly intended to improve the infrastructure and technological equipment of healthcare facilities.

Healthcare in Lombardy, numbers

Of these, 40 million will be invested in the maintenance of existing plants, while 77 million will be used for the purchase of new low and medium technology equipment, replacing obsolete ones. This intervention aims to improve the efficiency of healthcare facilities, reduce waiting lists and ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare workers. Furthermore, 11.2 million euros have been allocated for expansion, renovation and asbestos removal works in various hospitals.

The second measure, worth 1.141 billion euros, provides for the distribution of national funds for the construction or renovation of nine strategic hospital facilities. Among these projects, the construction of the new hospital in Busto and Gallarate, the redevelopment of the Spedali Civili in Brescia and the strengthening of the San Matteo in Pavia stand out. 32 million for the renovation of the Carati pavilion for Child Neuropsychiatry and Psychiatry at the Niguarda Hospital in Milan, 17 million for the renovation of the Talamona pavilion, which concerns training and ‘buffer’ hospitalizations at the Niguarda Hospital in Milan.

The regional councilor for Welfare, Guido Bertolaso, underlined the importance of ensuring that all equipment used by healthcare workers is efficient and modern, in order to allow them to carry out their work optimally. In fact, even tools such as portable ECG and ultrasound are fundamental for daily healthcare activity.
