Mauro “Zappander”, the Tranese laughter influencer, has died

“I sell laughter and emotions”: this is what is written on the Instagram profile, almost 16,000 followers but also up to 400,000 views for the videos, of Mauro Zappander, aka Mauro Palumbo, one of the nicest, most positive and popular characters from Trani who social media has taken on – so to speak – national fame.

It seemed like a joke but unfortunately it isn’t, and in less than an hour the rumor spread like wildfire throughout Trani, truly leaving an air of sadness in the city, especially around the fisherman’s bay, a sort of headquarters of his performances, his observations, ruminations and that apparently aggressive lightness which in reality also ended up virally beyond national borders.

A death that occurred following a sudden illness, so much so that on the Instagram story it is written, evidently by his friends, “our Mauro left us without even saying goodbye”. Fisherman’s Bay will no longer be the same without Zappander, but, we are certain, his irony, that Tranese dialect dispenser of reproaches, always ironic attacks, dazzling jokes, will continue to make him feel alive through the magic that social media can offer. But of course the fisherman’s bay without Mauro for the people of Trani is now deprived of a friend for many, with whom it was always nice to have a chat, joke, drink a beer, learn to fish. And those very viral videos will appear full of nostalgia, as well as smiles, for those who knew him personally.

Everything was really very sudden so we are not yet able to give any news on the place and date of the funeral. Too bad, we will miss him.
