Steals from garages and damages parked cars, arrested – L’Aquila

AVEZZANO. He damages parked cars and steals a man’s bike, a scooter, a portable compressor and other objects but is identified and arrested by officers from the Avezzano police station.

This is a foreigner originally from Morocco, already the recipient of an expulsion order with a simultaneous order to leave Italian territory, issued by the prefect and police commissioner of L’Aquila in the first months of 2022, which he never complied with.

The police intervened in a street in the center of Avezzano after some citizens reported that their parked cars had been damaged.

The testimonies and detailed descriptions provided to the police made it possible to trace the man who, in the meantime, had already left.

Officers found a medium-sized stick, broken into three parts, near the damaged cars. In the meantime they saw that the person they were looking for was exiting the ramp of an apartment building that leads to the garage.

The man was carrying a men’s bike, a scooter, a portable compressor and other items stolen shortly before, after having forced the overhead doors of some garages.

The man, clearly mentally and physically impaired and without documents, was stopped by the police who found some tools used for burglaries in his pouch.

The police returned the objects stolen from them to some condominium owners, while other material, whose owners are not currently known, is kept in the offices of the police station, waiting to be returned to those entitled to it.

The man was taken first to the police station where the owners of the damaged cars confirmed that he was responsible and then to the Avezzano prison.
