Reggio, presentation of the audio guides of the Sanctuary of San Paolo

Friday 7 June 10am in the Sanctuary of San Paolo alla Rotonda the students of class III D of Volta scientific high school they will present the audio guides carried out within the scope of PCTO “Open churches: art tells”, shared with the Diocesan Museum of Reggio Calabria.

Assisted by the company tutor Dr. Lucia Lojacono, director of the Museum, and the scholastic tutor Prof. Maria Giovanna Monaca, over the past few months the students have studied the art and history of the church, a true temple of contemporary sacred art in Reggio, drawing up the texts commenting on the works of art, creating photographic surveys and publishing audio guides on the IZITravel digital platform.

The experience was enriched by the presence of the parish priest Don Simone Gatto who guided the children in understanding the complex iconography of the works, created by Msgr. Francesco Gangemi. The teachers Maria Pustorino (English), Domenica Pansera (Drawing and Art History) and Simona Ambusto (class coordinator) collaborated in the creation of the PCTO.

Speakers at the presentation will be Don Domenico Rodà, deputy director of the cultural heritage and religious buildings office, and Dr. Maria Rosa Monterosso, headmaster of the Volta Scientific High School.

The event is part of plan conceived from the Parish of San Paolo Apostolo on the occasion of Long night of the churches That Friday 7 June it will be celebrated throughout Italy in places of worship, blending together culture, art and music in a key of reflection and spirituality.

In the afternoon, at the end of the Holy Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (beginning at 7pm), the Parish will propose at 8pm “Find me ! Encounter with art and music” animated by Santa Cecilia Choir, directed by maestro Marco Cuzzilla and accompanied by organist Filippo Francesco Diano. On this occasion, the Cultural Group of the Parish of San Paolo Apostolo will illustrate the extraordinary heritage of sacred art preserved in the church and the parish priest Don Simone Gatto will propose ideas for meditation inspired by it.

There Long night of the churchesnow in its ninth edition, is a great popular event created with the aim of giving a concrete sign of the presence of the Church in communities and of being an opportunity to meet people who are often distant, reawakening their interest in cultural and social events in churches that confirm themselves as a living space.

As per tradition, this year too a theme expressed by a word that sounds like an invitation will be the common thread for the events scheduled throughout Italy. “Find me!”.
