Florence – Last words and last tensions for the vote on Sunday and Monday. The ballot to decide who will be the next mayor of Florence, which sees the challenge between Sara Funaro for the center-left and Eike Schmidt for the center-right. Latest proposals to the electorate, but also complaints and controversies.
Eike Schmidt, the centre-right candidate and former director of the Uffizi, goes to the Carabinieri to sue the outgoing environmental councilor Andrea Giorgio. For defamatory and overly aggressive words. What did Giorgio say? He said that with Schmidt “there are Casapound and racists”.

It must have been the minister himself who explained to him that that barracks cannot be used because the State – owner – has already decided (a long time ago) to allocate it to other activities.
In the meantime, even in Italy Viva rags are flying about the support (or non-support) for Sara Funaro. Among those who will not go to vote, those who ask for the resignation of the city secretary of Iv Grazzini and of the highly voted Casini and those like Mimma Dardano who will vote but according to conscience and in complete freedom. With Saccardi’s open support for Funaro, however, there are Massimo Mattei, Gabriele Toccafondi and – probably – Casini himself.
And Sara Funaro? She makes it known that she is only thinking about the run-off, that she has no preclusions against anyone and that her election will include both political and technical profiles.
