Intervention of the zoophile guards of Making environment of the Green Laboratory of Andria, for the recovery of a ghebbio (Falco tinnunculus), a diurnal bird of prey belonging to the Falconidae family.

He was found injured in the district Pandolfolli and delivered the same day to the Bitetto Wildlife Observatory for appropriate treatment.

The intervention was made possible thanks to the availability of the volunteer zoophile guards Antonio Cannone, Luciano Albore and Leonetti Rosaria, who in the early hours of the day went to the Pandolfelli district following a report from a resident of the area who had noticed the bird in difficulty and managed to pick him up despite attempts to avoid his recovery even though he was injured.

The kestrel, known for its ability to hunt small mammals and insects, is a protected species in Italy. The timeliness and dedication of Fareambiente’s zookeepers made it possible to intervene quickly, guaranteeing the bird of prey the necessary care. The recovery of the kestrel is not only a victory for the individual animal, but also a positive sign of the effectiveness of wildlife rescue networks and the importance of raising community awareness towards the protection of wild animals.
