The Mediterranean Flag was delivered to the city of Andria, in the hands of the mayor Giovanna Bruno. It is the delivery of a symbol: the banner of a dream, that of the United States of the Mediterranean, united without any distinction, without partisan colors, under the aegis of the culture of coexistence, of the knowledge of the Mediterranean identity roots, of the valorization of the territory, environmental protection. The Flag was awarded by the Progetto Mediterranea association and the ‘La Stravaganza’ Academy, during the event “Gli meetings on the Mediterranean”, taking place until 9 June in Corato, now in its fourth edition organized by the high school Artistic “Federico II Stupor Mundi”, directed by prof. Savino Gallo, on the great themes of the environment, art, geology, prospects and projects for the territory. The Flag was delivered to the mayors of the municipalities of Andria, Canosa di Puglia and Terlizzi. Yesterday 3 June was considered the Special Day, with the contribution of the mayors of the area, open to all citizens, with university professors and experts.
«I was struck by seeing all the work, which comes from afar, of attention to the peoples and communities of the Mediterranean – comments the mayor Giovanna Bruno – invited to create a critical mass to affirm principles and paths of unity, dialogue, interaction. Receiving the banner is a further incentive to continue in this direction, with choices and actions aimed at building increasingly welcoming and prosperous cities.”
