Aversa (Caserta) – An exceptional concert, the one that will be held on Tuesday 11 June at the Cloister of San Francesco delle Monache, in Aversa, and not only for the incomparable location of the splendid Cloister. Giving further prestige to the already important concert program of the Lennie Tristano Jazz Club, which now in its 42nd year of activity never ceases to amaze, will in fact be the Federica Michisanti French Quartet, complete for the first time for a performance in southern Italy with the project that contributed to the recent awarding of three Top Jazz (the prestigious annual referendum organized by the Musica Jazz magazine) to the Roman double bass player: best musician, best formation and best album of the year 2023.

The group will be present with the same group that last year recorded “Afternoons” for Parco della Musica Records and which has already performed in important national (Rome and Bergamo above all) and international festivals. Supporting Federica Michisanti, already winner of the Top Jazz for the best new talent in 2018 and 2019, the Siae special prize for the originality of compositional research and now a professor at the St. Louis College of Music in Rome, will in fact be the clarinettist Louis Sclavis, the cellist Vincent Courtois and the percussionist Michele Rabbia, musicians of international caliber, resident in France but with a special relationship with Italy.

Louis Sclavis, active since the mid-Seventies, is considered one of the most important masters of contemporary jazz, making linguistic research the main vehicle for defining his identity, in a continuous fluctuation between experimental jazz, avant-garde and contemporary classical.

Vincent Courtois is one of the most original cellists active on the contemporary scene, who has numerous and prestigious collaborations under his belt, including those with his compatriots Martial Solal, Michel Petrucciani and the double bass player Henri Texier, with whom he created the music for the film “Holy Lola”, directed by Bertrand Tavernier.

The group is completed by Michele Rabbia, percussionist, drummer, artist in the broadest sense, given his ability to immerse himself in the most varied expressive contexts: in solo performances as well as in any type of ensemble he expresses himself by shaping sound spaces in which he combines technology with the originality of handcrafted materials that he himself chooses with care. His collaborations then extend to dance with the choreographers Virgilio Sieni and Teri Weikel, to literature with the writer Dacia Maraini and the poet Gabriele Frasca, to painting with Gabriele Amadori and to architecture with James Turrell.

For the days leading up to the event, the Lennie Tristano Jazz Club, with its media partner radio/altriSuoni, has planned an approach to the concert with specials, reviews, listening guides and interviews with the protagonists.
