Lombardy reigns in double figures, Veneto bursts onto the podium. Sardinia and Lazio halved. Molise returns to rejoice

While waiting for the final of the playoffs, with Vicenza and Carrarese on the launching pad to conquer the last place available for Serie B, only one protagonist is missing to understand who will be entitled to register for the next third series championship.

For this reason we have already decided to present the map of the third series to come, analyzing the geographical origin of the teams that have acquired the right to register through relegation from the second division, maintenance of the category or promotion from Serie D (also because registrations expire today, Tuesday 4 June, and the signs are more than positive and all 60 of those eligible do not seem to reveal any problems whatsoever).

Lombardy will once again be the queen of Serie C and this time they even return to double figures: despite the loss of Mantova promoted to the second division, Feralpisalò returns to the third series after just one season and for the first time there is the third team from Milan to represent the territory, thanks to the promotion of Alcione. Veneto burst onto the podium to the detriment of Puglia: while waiting to know the fate of Vicenza, Veneto acquired the two newly promoted Caldiero Terme and Union Clodiense while Puglia lost a representative due to the relegation of Brindisi. Step forward for Sicily and Umbria who welcome promoted Trapani and relegated Ternana. The presence of Sardinia and Lazio is halved, with the farewells of Olbia and Monterosi Tuscia falling to the amateurs. The joy of Molise ends with its return to having an exponent such as Campobasso.

Here is the current composition of the 2024/25 Serie C, with region, number of clubs, name of the clubs and in brackets the difference compared to last year:

*vying for promotion to the cadetship.

Last season we also delved into this type of analysis, but then repechages and/or readmissions upset the geography of the third series again. Everything, as already highlighted, suggests that there will be no eligible teams that will not submit an application for registration, but if at the last minute someone were to prove us wrong at that point we will proceed with the additions to the staff with an order that provides for a second team of Serie A (Milan’s second team could be at stake, but could easily remain defeated), a club that has played in the amateur championship (Syracuse in pole position, then the ranking includes Ravenna, L’Aquila, Nardò, Grosseto, Desenzano, Romana, Vado, Campodarsego) and a club relegated from the third series (in this case Recanatese is in first place).
