Restored porphyry in Via Roma and Corso Castelvecchio in Verona

The works for the restoration of the porphyry in the points of the historic center of Verona affected in recent months by micro construction sites for the strengthening of the electricity grid were completed today, 3 June. A necessary upgrade in view of the 2026 Olympics. With the operations in Via Roma and Corso Castelvecchio, the last part of the intervention was completed, with the temporary asphalt positioned in recent months being removed, replacing it with the original material.

The construction site for the electricity network involved Corso Porta Palio, Via del Minatore, Piazza Bra, Via Roma and Corso Castelvecchio. And the intervention was structured on small work areas of around 50 meters in order to minimize the impact on traffic and commercial activities.
Subsequently, to carry out the restoration of the porphyry in a single operation, the individual sections of the construction site were temporarily asphalted. And, a few months ago, starting from Piazza Bra, the definitive restoration phase began, completed today with the last sections in Via Roma and Corso Castelvecchio.

«It was an important intervention – highlighted the councilor for roads Federico Benini – which thanks to a timetable based on mobile micro construction sites linked to the new electricity lines, a novelty coordinated between all the interested parties, allowed us to work while limiting the inconvenience to citizens and traders operating in the areas affected by the works. This was necessary work to achieve important objectives in view of the 2026 Olympics and we are committed to mitigating the inconvenience to the population as much as possible.”
