ANCONA – This evening starts Ancona Jazz Festivalhistoric jazz music festival of the Marche capital, organized by ‘Spacemusic’ for over half a century. At 9.30 pm, at Court of the Mole The event will open with a tribute to the music of Charles Mingusstarring an ensemble drawn from the Colours Jazz Orchestra enriched by the double bass player Boris Kozlovmusical director of the groups responsible for carrying forward the ‘Mingusian’ repertoire through the Mingus Big Bandthe Mingus Dynasty and the Mingus Orchestra. Tomorrow evening however, again at 9.30 pm, it will be the turn of the sextet Black Art Jazz Collectiveformed by some of the greatest exponents of American jazz today, and an important example in the continuation of the jazz language developed from the 1960s onwards.

But the Ancona Jazz Festival will not end with these two days. However, the location will change and the protagonist will be theRoman amphitheater. Here, the protagonists on July 16th will be the quartet of the pianist and singer Sergio Cammariereextended to the sublime cello of Giovanna Famulari. On July 19th it will be the group’s turn Rossana Casalewho will present her new album ‘Almost Blue’. Finally, on July 26th, space for the duo of the great trumpeter Paul Fresu con Rita Marcotulli on the floor.

Other evenings of important interest will take place on July 18th when space will be given to the magic of Polish jazz, in memory of the liberation of Ancona, with the presence of the pianist Silvia Mancoin a program that starts from the poetry of the Nobel Prize winner Wislawa Szymborska ‘Ella in Heaven’and the all-female quartet ONEfeaturing female musicians from Poland, Ukraine and Italythe latter represented by the emerging Francesca Remigi. Then on July 22nd, at Moroder’s, space for the only Italian concert of the great singer Janis Siegelfounder of the legendary vocal quartet ‘Manhattan Transfer’, in a program that will combine jazz and cuisine following a path of unpredictable public involvement. Instead the stage of Pope’s Square on July 11 and of the internal court of Marina Dorica the 13th will host the Big Bands from the Universities of Utah and Illinoisthanks to the collaboration of the relevant operating networks.

The month of August instead includes various events. The first on the 10th, in the theatre Conero to Sirolowith the Colours Jazz Orchestra to the full house that, through the direction and splendid arrangements of Massimo Morganti, will present a program dedicated to the great tenor players in the history of jazz, from Coleman Hawkins a Sonny Rollinsyes John Coltrane a Bob Berg through their masterpieces reexplored by Daniele Comoglio. This event is the result of collaboration with the Le Muse Association of Old Ostra of the teacher Federico Mondelci. Also, back in ‘Moroder’s Terrace’the Ferragosto appointment. A classic that represents the ideal closing of the circle. A concert show, entrusted to the legendary guitarist Lino Patruno who, in his usual ‘Jazz Show’ will offer the right homage to the jazz of New Orleans and Chicago thanks to his profound knowledge of those styles that were so important in the 1920s, having played alongside historical and representative figures of that period. Enthusiasts, and not only them, will have the opportunity to appreciate a vast spectrum of sound, from duos to large orchestras, passing through sensations and emotions typical of a cultural moment that is based, today more than ever, on heterogeneity and influences from everywhere. .
