The first piece of the intricate puzzle regarding the second red saddle of Borgo Panigale concerns – perhaps a bit of a surprise given the rumors that began circulating no later than a week ago – Jorge Martin. The current leader of the MotoGP rider standings, which according to La Gazzetta dello Sport he had recently received reassurances from Ducati leaders regarding his arrival among the ranks of the official team, he announced instead his arrival in Aprilia Racing.
It was precisely through a short video published on the social channels of the Noale brand that Massimo Rivola, together with Aleix Espargaro, presented to the world the rider who will replace #41 on the RS-GP. Jorge Martin, a long-time friend of the Granollers native, will join the official team starting from the 2025 season of the MotoGP with a multi-year contract. It seems that the #89 was pushed from the Borgo Panigale side to the Noale side the hesitations shown by Ducati following the unaccommodating statements released by Marc Marquez regarding his possible arrival among the ranks of First Pramac Racing. On the eve of the Italian Grand Prix, the eight-time world champion declared that Paolo Campinoti’s team, although equipped next year with future Ducati GP25s, it would not have represented an option for him ahead of next season.
Marc Marquez’s statement has completely shuffled the cards on the Borgo Panigale table, where we hoped – by sacrificing Enea Bastianini – to bring Jorge Martin in the official team and to keep #93 among the ranks of a team that is almost official.
