“My mother and my brothers were all diabetics – he explained -. But I was more unlucky than them, I lost my sight due to diabetes.”

The worsening of my eyesight forced me to close the jewelry shop and return home to Caserta where I can count on the support of my children.” Elio is one of the 460 thousand patients in Campania at risk of blindness due to diabetic retinopathy.
“I completely lost one eye a year and a half ago, in the other I can only see 15 percent, practically shadows that I know will slowly disappear too”. When did you realize you were losing your sight? “Two years ago, when there was nothing left to do. I traveled the world looking for a specialist who could restore my sight.
