While a crew of the program Out of the core She was on the outskirts of Florence, filming a report on illegally occupied houses, and was allegedly attacked by a family of three. The events occurred late in the morning today, June 3rd. The father and son would have brandished gardening shears at the journalist and the technical staff, and the boy would have kicked the crew’s car, ruining the side and mirror. The mother, however, would have hit the journalist with a slap on the head, who apparently was not injured.
The story
The three were reported for aggravated threats by the police in Florence. They would have declared that they had lived in the council house in the Le Piagge district for almost 20 years, paying the rent regularly. The mother risks being sued for battery while her son risks being sued for criminal damage. So far no party complaints have been filed. The outgoing Councilor for Security of the Municipality of Florence, Benedetta Albanese, intervened on the matter: «All the solidarity of the municipal administration goes to the attacked crew. On the occupations, however minimal, we are working with the prefecture, municipal police, law enforcement and with our services to clear out the empty accommodation that has been illegally occupied.”

It is unacceptable that professionals, engaged in their work of informing the public on issues of great social importance, suffer intimidation and material damage.”
