Skip tomorrow’s four-way match. Galli and La Marca give a lump sum
Everything was ready. Everything was organized down to the smallest detail for the last confrontation before the vote between the 4 candidates running to govern the fate of Manfredonia.
The newspaper I manage, a historical periodical of the territorial area in which we operate, had managed to put together four newspapers: from ManfredoniaNews.it, to Quotidiano l’Attacco, from Canale 99 of Foggia Tivù to ManfredoniaTV, all stitched together in a live streaming .
The appointment was for 6pm on June 4th in the “C.Serricchio” Auditorium of Palazzo Celestini, complete with authorization from the Municipal Services.
For the occasion we had obtained the availability of two professionals in the news of the buildings, Micky dè Finis, long-time journalist and political analyst by trade who certainly needs no introduction and Lucia Piemontese, deputy director of the Quotidiano l’Attacco, journalist of proven experience. Two highly esteemed colleagues.
But 24 hours after the event I received the unavailability of two mayoral candidates, Ugo Galli and Domenico La Marca.
I gloss over the reasons given by both.
We take note of this, as they say, for future reference. It is true that the initiative served to give shine to all the candidates in the name of those principles of correctness that we have always observed.
And everyone knows how much it is needed for politics in our tormented city. Are the reasons represented true? Tacticism? Or the fear of being ambushed?
I prefer not to express myself except to recognize with real regret that an opportunity has been lost that would have favored a confrontation on equal terms, with very specific rules aimed at nourishing democratic practice in a City that seems to have lost sight of the sense of community because it is the comparison that highlights the lights and shadows of the leaders on the track.
That comparison won’t happen.
Two gave a flat rate!
Our apologies go to Vincenzo Di Staso and Antonio Tasso but, as they said in the legal civilization of ancient Rome, ad impossibilia nemo tenetur!
I thank Micky dè Finis and Lucia Piemontese for thinking they could offer part of their time to try to understand where Manfredonia is going.
To our readers and, more generally, to our dear fellow citizens, we convey the regret for not having been able to promote a moment of growth, aware of the fact that if we don’t compare ourselves… we become what we are. Not without disappointment nor do we give the news, convinced as we are that the best way to prevail in an argument is to avoid it. Intelligent pauca!
