Bergamo, serious patient brought by military plane from Cagliari to Papa Giovanni

He needed urgent care. No more time should be wasted, he had to get to the hospital in Bergamo as soon as possible. A 69 year old woman admitted to Our Lady of Bonaria, in San Gavino Monreale, in Sardinia and in need of urgent specialist care, was transported on the afternoon of Monday 6 June to Pope John XXIII aboard a Falcon 50 of the Air Force.

A life-saving flight made necessary due to the serious condition of the woman, who was able to reach the hospital in Bergamo quickly thanks to the crew and the Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampinoone of the Armed Forces’ flight departments that ensures 24-hour support for citizens in difficulty.

Requested by the Prefecture of Cagliari, the urgent flight was immediately arranged and coordinated by the Top Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks also that of activating and managing urgent medical transports, giving the take-off order to the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps in a state of readiness every single day of the year, at various bases, for these kinds of needs.
