Anti-waste doggy bag, the gift from students to restaurateurs

Mondavio (PU) 3 June 2024 – Closing ceremony, this morning, for the “Don’t waste” food education projectcarried out by pupils from primary and nursery schools in the Municipality of Mondavio belonging to“Gio’ Pomodoro” comprehensive school. The project, born from the collaboration between the Municipality and the school, saw the girls and boys involved in creation of hundreds of decorated boxes for the recovery of leftover foodand this morning the useful (and colorful) containers were delivered directly by the students to all restaurateurs in the area. Alongside the children, their teachers, the school director and representatives of the association were present “Foodbusters” (the “Foodbusters”) of Falconara, who told the schoolchildren about their experience of fair and supportive generosity, which consists of recovering leftover food, saving it from waste and donating it to social canteens. In this way the potential waste food keeps its qualities intact, becoming a resource that feeds, offers an opportunity for social reintegration and restores dignity by creating value, even for the companies that decide to donate. “Really a nice project, this one carried out with the school – highlights the councilor for public education of Mondavio, Alice Bonifazi -, which allowed the students to reflect on an important topic while having fun and increasing their manual skills”.
