[Reggio Emilia] Voting indication for the 2024 administrative elections • CARC Party

For a complete and organic picture of the context, line and objectives within which we have articulated our intervention in the electoral campaign for the Reggio Emilia administrative offices, we refer to previous press releases (available here, here, here, here and here) and, in particular, to the interview Irruption in the electoral campaign. Reggio Emilia. Furthermore, for a further frame of reference and direction in view of 8 and 9 June, we recommend reading the press release from the National Directorate of P.CARC on the European elections and respective voting instructions.

In the overall panorama of the lists that present themselves at the polls in our city, two of them have the common trait of having expressed, programmatically, the nature, characteristics and anti-Broad Agreements elements: the list To reactpromoted by the Communist Refoundation Party (PRC) with Gianni Tasselli as candidate for mayor, and the list Movement for Reggio Emilia – Paola Soragni mayorthe result of the break in the local M5S in opposition to Conte’s national line of continuing in the deadly embrace – electoral and otherwise – with the Democratic Party.

In both lists, in their political complex and in the unfolding of the electoral campaign, the failure to promote initiatives and actions to break with the Meloni government at a national level and with that of the PD at a local level, to fight the internal war and external and impulsive of the workers’ and popular organization as a compass of its own planning right from the start, that is, without waiting for the fateful 10th June and without limiting itself to the horizon of the vote and its percentages.

Going into detail, compared to Movement for Reggio Emilia, the area To react-PRC has shown (and has) a greater presence, in terms of ordinariness and quality, in the real movement of citizen struggle. It is therefore correct to underline that even before the electoral campaign – from the defense of the NHS, to the support for the LIDL dispute up to the mobilizations against the Zionist genocide underway in Palestine – the PRC was indeed an active subject but it conducted an electoral campaign characterized by a textbook electoralism. In fact, the list closed in on itself, paying attention to remaining within the confines of the bourgeois electoral theater and promoting a collection of signatures to present itself at the administrative elections limited to the historic center and therefore far from the jobs and central issues of the city. Hence also the enormous difficulty (and willingness) to participate in disruptive actions such as, for example, the anti-fascist cleanup of Viale Umberto I and the protests against the PD and the Zionists on 25 April.

The other list, Movement for Reggio Emilia, has articulated, as its main distinctive feature, a more forceful propaganda on phase issues (such as opposition to NATO and against the war) and, thanks also to the entry into the local system built over the years by some subjects belonging to the list, has had better coverage in the city press. The limit is that it has, in fact, attested to this. Indeed, this is an important alarm bell as “attack” propaganda without an immediately corresponding practice is the typical electoral campaign game that acts as the soundtrack to bourgeois elections. This split demonstrates the extreme necessity, also as a criterion of evaluation and level of responsibility towards the masses, of having to match break-up programs (in themselves good but not sufficient) to break-through actions. Furthermore, as emerged in her speech at our Festa della Riscossa Popolare in the debate on 25 May, the positions of the mayoral candidate Soragni on further implementations of equipment, such as the teaser, for traffic police and law enforcement in general as a viaticum in matters of security they must be rejected out of hand because they undermine security when the security we need is popular security. We must immediately be consistent with what we say and promise and the absence, in both formations, of this consequentiality leads us to confirm the importance of conceiving (and acting in line) elections as a tool, a bridge and not an end .

The work is therefore not finished yet, 8 and 9 June are and must be two days of active mobilization inside and outside the polling stations starting with organizing joint leaflets and banners in front of the polling stations. Furthermore, for those who go to vote the indication is to do so wearing a t-shirt bearing writings against NATO and the Zionists or the keffiyeh or the Palestinian flag. There is “no” June 10th to wait for: we need to continue on the path undertaken for more than a year, namely that of building a broad and varied citizen anti-Larghe Intese front which, starting from the focal points of the city’s class struggle, weaves organization and protagonism from below and contributes to realize its interests. Despite the outcome, in purely electoral terms, of the elections which will bring predictable discouragement, we immediately appeal to those who have the hammer and sickle in their hearts and to sincere democrats to continue on the path undertaken, aware that the crisis of the PD is worsening and that it depends on us to reverse course. AND necessary And possible do it: the common work of recent months demonstrates this and it is now a question of moving more and more from denunciation to action. In this, sectarianism and competition, seen for example in the electoral campaign between To react And Movement for Reggio Emiliaare harmful and we must fight them with renewed strength as it is not only possible to maintain coordination and the citizen’s anti Broad Understandings front (from healthcare, to popular security, to work and on Palestine) but we must also implement it, developing what has been done (and not done) during the election campaign!

With an eye turned in this direction, centering our analysis on the real citizen movement (even previous ones) and with the aim of proceeding in the fight to transform the limits expressed in the electoral campaign into drivers of concatenation and development of the common work, between the two lists anti Broad Agreements, we indicate To react the one to which you can direct your preferences. In particular, there are individual candidates who have demonstrated and who bring elements useful for placing the interests of the popular masses at the center and who therefore represent the content of that horizon that we indicate and which is at the basis of our vote indication, all aimed at continuation of the coordinated action against Larghe Intese: Araceli Barrus y de Andres for her constant commitment to defending the NHS and Elanor Marcella Miselli for the experience of Mirabello Autonomous Committee. Furthermore, faithful to the line of placing the political prerogatives of the unitary anti-Larghe Intese work at the center, individual candidates on the list Movement for Reggio Emilia it is decidedly useful that they continue to contribute to the ongoing citizen path and process, starting with Verusca Barbieri and Maria Pergetti who have always been present in and alongside the city struggles.

June 8th and 9th are not a landing place, but a stage!

Not a vote for the local Broad Agreements, for the Democratic Party and all that!

Forward in the construction and promotion of the anti-Larghe Intese front to the point of expressing an Emergency Local Administration, a direct expression of the needs and interests of workers and citizens!
