The ceremony for the new citizens of Alessandria who acquired Italian citizenship proved to be an exciting moment.
Alexandria celebrated its new citizens
On Saturday morning, 1 June, in the City Council Hall, in the presence of institutional representatives, the ceremony took place for the new citizens of Alessandria who acquired Italian citizenship over the course of the last year.
Among the People who, coming from other States, acquire Italian Citizenship by oath – through marriage or naturalization or descent from an Italian ancestor – some have in fact chosen the city of Alessandria as their place of residence, becoming to all intents and purposes “Citizens of Alexandria”.
“The City of Alessandria – we read in a note from the Municipality – recognizes the contribution and value of these People who make the Alessandria Community an increasingly cosmopolitan reality and committed to concretizing – according to the Italian Constitutional Charter – the meaning of words such as integration and sharing of objectives, rights, duties, respect and friendship.
The event was scheduled on a non-random date: the eve of Republic Day, to underline in a special way the correlation between the value of acquired Citizenship and the peculiarities of belonging to the Italian State.
“When people from 60 other countries become Italian citizens and are welcomed by our community, we too become a little more citizens of these 60 countries” commented the councilor Giorgio Laguzzi
