In compliance with the rights of the person under investigation, the presumption of innocence and the necessary trial verification, as far as is currently known, subject to further investigation and pending trial, the Matera State Police communicates the following:
“The State Police notified the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Matera, against a 46-year-oldheld responsible for the crime of aggravated persecutory acts, committed against the neighbors.
According to investigations carried out by the Flying Squad, the man allegedly harassed, through repeated conduct, a couple of neighbors; this would have happened despite the fact that in 2022, a warning had already been issued against him by the Police Commissioner of Matera.
But that wouldn’t be all, as the man had also been sent to trial for crimes of the same type, also committed against the couple.
Many times, the suspect would have addressed insults and threats to the victims, generated by trivial reasons, linked to neighborly relations.
Among the harassment carried out, having severed the iron wires supporting the fence posts of the neighbors’ house, taking them away with the car; under another circumstance, he would have placed a large vase at the mouth of the rainwater drainage channel, to prevent it from flowing out of the neighbours’ property, which was thus flooded.
Such behaviors would have caused in the offended persons a well-founded fear for their own safety, forcing them to alter their lifestyle habits, for fear that even more serious acts would be committed.”
