Fasano (BR) – The second of the six rounds on the calendar of the single-make Mini Challenge organized by Promodrive, part of the ACI Sport Weekend, was held on the “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” circuit in Imola. At the start in the Evo category the Apulian driver Giovanni Tagliente defends the Gretaracing colors on the Mini John Cooper Works n°37 managed by the Progetto E20 Motorsport team, which took part in the two races of 25 minutes plus one lap. In the timed trials held on Friday, on a wet track, Tagliente first set the ninth time in 2’10″038, then the eighth in the second session, improving to 2’03″176. He thus qualified for ninth place on the starting grid. Race 1, held on Saturday on a dry track, was won by Andrea Bristot despite a 10″ penalty. Giovanni Tagliente started in tenth place and after a few laps managed to overtake Pasquali and then climb up to seventh place.
However, he lost a position at the end when he was overtaken by Pasquali himself, managing to finish eighth. Race 2, held on Sunday, was characterized by the intervention of the safety car due to an accident between two drivers in the Academy category, and saw a second victory for Andrea Bristot. Tagliente started at the traffic lights again in tenth position and, fighting in the middle of the group, first climbed to ninth place, then at the end he took eighth position from Cassarà. By virtue of these two placings, Tagliente now occupies seventh position in the championship with 24 points, fighting for fifth place in close contact with Carlo Contessi (28), Andrea Palazzo (26), Daniele Pasquali (23) and Gabriele Giorgi (21). . In the Hankook Trophy, Tagliente is now in second place with 32 points behind Daniele Pasquali (34). Now the next appointment will be in Vallelunga just outside Rome, with the double race on 15 and 16 June.
