The Palio di Siena returns on Tuesday 2 July at 5.15pm, exclusively on La7, with a live broadcast from Field Square. Yesterday, the Nicchio contrada won the dress rehearsal of the Palio di Siena with the scosso horse Akida. During the start, the Nicchio jockey, Elias Mannucci known as Turbine, fell, allowing the Civetta to initially take the lead. However, at the Casato curve, the scosso horse of the Nicchio overtook everyone, maintaining the lead until the end of the third lap. The dress rehearsal was preceded by the traditional lap of honor and the charge of the Carabinieri on horseback. Today, the dress rehearsal is scheduled for 9 in the morning, while the career dedicated to the Madonna di Provenzano will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Where to watch the Palio di Siena 2024 on TV

The commentary will be entrusted to Pierluigi Pardo, supported by the historian Giovanni Mazzini. Together they will tell every minute of this great challenge, starting from the first ringing of the bell. The second Palio race is scheduled for August 16 and will always be broadcast on La7.

Atmospheres and behind the scenes

During the live broadcast, Andrea Milluzzi’s services will take us into the atmospheres, behind the scenes and anecdotes that animate the entire city. In addition, Elena Testi will be connected from the Mappamondo room of the Municipality of Siena, a historic space where the fresco with the “Maestà” by Simone Martini, a work from 1315, is located.

Full event coverage

An audio station will also be set up on the track, to listen live to all the voices, the sounds from the stands and the jockeys on horseback ready to start. The complete coverage of the event will guarantee total immersion in the heart of the Palio.
