ANCONA – Passetto shock: bivouacs are back on the beach under the Passetto lift. But this time we are in full bathing season, something like this has never happened. Last night (June 2), around 1.30 am, a foreigner was caught sleeping wrapped in a sleeping bag. Some people who happened to be passing by took photos of him.

Near him, you can see from the images, two bottles of water, perhaps used for washing, some slippers a few centimeters away and some cartons with envelopes. The man, of presumed origin Pakistanilike most people who sleep down there, is located right in front of the elevator rooms that lead to the beach.

This is a problem that recurs periodically: the desperate people who choose the Passetto as an improvised dwelling awaiting the documents Of asylum they are now a fact. Previously, they used to lie down in the small park in Via Marini, behind the police headquarters, near the Savoia Benincasa high school. But the lift del Passetto is one of the favorite places for migrants.
That in winter the teeth chatter from Freddo (so much so that they have often been rescued by 118), but in the summer they can sleep more comfortable. What is certain is that with the lift functioning and in full bathing season, “it’s not exactly a good sight to find a desperate person sleeping before your eyes, a stone’s throw from the bay”, highlights a caveman, who prefers anonymity.

«This is now no man’s land. The consequence is that “the beach is shrinking from year to year”.

It is the first time that a bivouac has been found in the peak period of the summer, although the beach is in poor conditions. degradation (broken wooden fence, unkempt grass, collapsing cliffs). And perhaps it is precisely this – who knows – that encourages bivouacs. A bit like the sociological theory of broken windows: where neglect reigns, degradation proliferates.
