UDINE. The heavy rains that have also fallen on Udine in the last two weeks have ractivity at the construction site in via Cesare Battisti has slowed down. Forcing the company that is working on the repaving of the road that connects Piazza XX Settembre and Piazza Garibaldi to remodel the timetable: initially set for last Friday, the end date of the works has been postponed by almost a month.

The artery will remain closed until Wednesday 26 June, according to what the Municipality communicated in recent days to residents and commercial operators in the area. «Until about ten days ago the works were perfectly in line with the expected timetable – confirms the municipal councilor for public works, Ivano Marchiol –. The continuous rainfall of the last period, unfortunately, forces us to postpone the closure of the construction site”.

The representative of the council De Toni reiterates the constant contact with residents e with those who have a commercial activity along Via Battisti: «We have kept them updated with a series of communications and this afternoon we will meet them in the Municipality to inform them about the state of the art of the construction site».

More inconveniences, therefore. But there is half a reason to smile, because the heavy rains have in some way allowed the soil on which the layers of the pavement will be physically laid to be compacted, thus making the settlement period foreseen by the municipal technicians and the company unnecessary. who is carrying out the work. «At this point it will be possible to directly position the draining base, 20 centimeters high, which, unlike the temporary covering that we were thinking of creating to reopen the road, will not have to be destroyed and removed: it will constitute the base on which the porphyry will be laid in a few months . In the meantime – adds Marchiol – we will reopen the road at the end of the month, which will be accessible by authorized vehicles. We want to discuss the timing of this second phase in particular with the operators.”
